The Bottom Line has Moved!

I know it seems sudden and quite frankly, out of the blue but it is true, The Bottom Line has moved. It's been a good run with over 150 posts but I have indeed made "the switch." Join me for all the same stuff and more at sdillondesign.wordpress.com!

All work and no play, makes Steph...

...a new logo treatment!
I spent much of my day catching up on "work" work. So to reward myself for giving up much of my Sunday leisure, I came up with a new logo treatment. This particular version will be used on photo stuff (with and without Chum), maybe some vector here and there. Nailing down a solid branding for one's self it tough! There is just too much to get excited about :)
Hopefully here in the near future I will have a nice solid set. Until then, I experiment.

Dillon & Eames for Your Pleasure: Part Deux

Late last year, fellow Illustrator/Design Extraordinaire/Cell Mate, Sam Eames and I did a collaborative illustration wonderland. See it here. What do you know? We went at it again! Like last time, we passed it back and fourth over the course of a few days where we had minutes to spare. The theme evolved on it's own and voila! Enjoy, and take a look at Sam's stuff. Leave him comments he likes the attention ; )

An Owl in a Hoodie, Done

On a ramble of the typical Monday work stuff, a coworker friend suggested we remove all the copy and randomly replace it with an image of an owl in a hoodie. Well, I can totally make that happen! I wonder how the super uber corporate (but much appreciated, *wink*) client will feel about it.

Octo Love or Something Like That

It's a technicolor water scene. Not a Wyland by any measure (sigh of relief) buts it fun and the blow fish agrees. I can't get away from the cute stuff, I just can't! Perhaps my Id is really an adorable little girl who likes pink and smiley faces.

IF: Theater

This week's Illustration Friday topic. This theater is buzzing with activity. Thinking in the near future of sprucing this one up a bit. Has lots of potential. But for now, enjoy!

Mission Accomplished

My Website is up and running and I have to admit I have a huge sense of relief right now. I can't help but feel there will be positive changes for me very soon. At the very least, I will have some opportunities to broaden my portfolio and make some connections. Take a peek and let me know you stopped by. Hugs!

SDillon Coming Soon...Enough.

I promised myself that I wouldn't work on any extra curricular projects until my website is finished. In my state of procrastination, that has only meant that I have not worked on anything; extra curricular or not. With that being said, as of this evening, my site is nearly finished. Only a few more adjustments, insert portfolio and voila, my site. It should be up in a couple of short days. Until then you can marvel at my "under contruction" splash page.

Also, new business cards are coming my way. A friend is printing them via letterpress and I can't wait to see how they come out! I will be sure to share the results.

I am...

This week's topic at Inspire Me Thursday is about one's self. Really, I cant sum it all up in one illustration and even if I could would take ages for me to finish. So, I decided to illustrate what I was doing, rather than what I was, at the moment that I read the topic. Maybe at some point I will add to it, but for now, I am thinking of you.

Hummingbirds & Irises

Garden of Joy, 24x24, Acrylic on Canvas

Final acrylic wash

First layer of acrylic wash

As a birthday gift for a friend, I painted two birds of joy in a garden of irises. At about 24"x24" it was a bit of a challenge but in the end I was pleased with the results. I started out with a very bright color palette but decided to mute the tones a bit. I spent a little extra time on the wash with this one in an attempt to build up the paint in an interesting way. The recipient seemed to enjoy it, hope you do too.

Lemur Love

He is watching YOU! Truth be told as much as I am trying to move away from using the simply "adorable" stuff so often, I can't completely abandon it. This illustration is evidence of that.

Sitting Here

I have had this little owl tucked away in a sketch book for sometime now and thought he deserved a little love. I gave him a tree that is currently being used in an illustration that is in the works. Enjoy!

Guinness vs. Green

This morning I had to throw together a St. Patty's Day Design. It's for an educational institution so it had to stay in the G-rated range. As far as the client knows the green version has nothing to do with beer but really, how can you say St. Patty's Day without even mentioning the good stuff? So for us, Guinness.

This guy may seem like the boring type but boy does he appreciate a tie with detail.

Bamboo

This week's topic at the lovely Inspire Me Thursday site is Bamboo. I immediately thought of the giant panda and all its monochromatic furriness. He looks surprised by my choice. Enjoy!

Bella & Mooka (sorta)

Bella & Mooka, 12x12, acrylic on canvas

Prepping multiple canvases all at once.

In my urgency to paint more I made this attempt at painting a pet portrait for a friend. Lets just say I am only 50% pleased with the results and that 50% is the Bella (puppy) part. I felt this horrible pressure to make it "right." I don't see many pet portraits in my future but I enjoyed the challenge.
